National League Two North: Wharfedale 13 Sale FC 18

SALE had the majority of territory and possession in the first half but poor execution meant that they went in at half-time only leading 18-7.

Dale were the superior side in the second half, but again it was only errors in finishing that saw them restricted to only scoring six points.

Some good handling from Sale allowed space for Chris Townsend to go over in the corner.

Dale were starved of possession but scored when a weak pass was intercepted by Scott Jordan, Tom Barrett being on hand to race clear and run in from 60 metres before adding the two points to take Dale into the lead.

Tom Ailes did the hard work for Sale's second try when he broke from the set-piece and off-loaded to Townsend, who again skipped over for Liam McGovern to convert, with the latter adding two more penalties before half-time.

Dale were pressing to close the gap in the second half but their only reward was two penalty kicks from Barrett to earn a losing bonus point.

The match could have produced more for the hosts but they seemed to freeze in the act of scoring and let Sale off the hook.
