Luctonians 26 Wharfedale 14

ANOTHER disappointing result but at least the performance was more promising from Wharfedale as they suffered their third National League Two North loss of the season.

A closely contested first half ended with Luctonians having a 13-8 lead. This was deserved as they had spent long periods in Dale’s half.

Louis Silver opened the scoring with a penalty after 23 minutes before Pierce Morell touched down following a short period of scrappy play close to Dale’s line.

Silver added the two points.

Dale then forced their way into the match and were rewarded with a penalty kick by Robbie Davidson. A minute later Silver responded with another three pointer.

Wharfedale finished the first half strongly and Josh Burridge crashed over for an unconverted try.

The home side extended their lead when Pierce Morell managed to break a tackle for his second converted try.

Back came Wharfedale and with the scrum driving forward a series of penalties followed.

Robbie Davidson slotted two long attempted from 48 and 46 metres and the Green Machine were only a score away from winning the match.

The home side then pressed again and two successful penalties took the match away from Dale.

The final period of the game was all Wharfedale who deserved a try and a losing bonus point. They did everything but score and at least travelled home with their heads high.
