A convincing performance at Cambridge has persuaded the selectors to reward Will Bell by retaining him at fly-half for the home fixture with Tynedale, ahead of his two illustrious predecessors on the bench.
The 23-year-old scored the opening try, then moved to scrum-half when Philip Woodhead limped off with a knock.
Wharfedale’s two successive five-point victories are all the more remarkable as they have been achieved without their top tryscorer Dan Solomi, who is named in Saturday’s starting line-up, subject a fitness test.
Impressive young flanker James Holland, who also scored at Cambridge, is named at blindside in place of Aaron Myers, who has gone off with the England Sevens squad to Dubai.
Veteran prop Neil Dickinson comes on to the bench for Mark Tampin, whose ankle injury may keep him out until after the Christmas break.
Wharfedale: D Hart; S Jordan, A Hodgson, T Davidson, S Horsfall; W Bell, P Woodhead; T McGee, S Graham, C Steel, R Brown, J Quinn, J Holland, D Solomi, R Baldwin (c).
Replacements: N Dickinson, B Sowrey, A Allen, T Barrett, L Gray.
