Wharfedale selectors back winning combination

Ben Sowery Ben Sowery

Wharfedale selectors take a virtually unchanged squad for the trip to Coventry on Saturday.

Once again the hookers rotate and this week it is the turn of Ben Sowery to start the game.

Steve Graham, who like Sowery is a destructive runner, is on the bench.

He is joined by flanker Aaron Myers, back from Dubai with the England Sevens squad and Tom Barrett who scored a try in Saturday’s win over Tynedale.

When Coventry came to Wharfedale back in September the Greens won by 31-10.

However, Coventry’s home record is impressive, with only one defeat against Cambridge and one draw versus Blaydon.

Their total of nine wins has taken them to seventh position on 44 points.

Wharfedale are currently enjoying their best patch of the season and will be anxious to extend their winning run to four matches to pull themselves even further away from the relegation zone.

Wharfedale: D Hart; S Jordan, A Hodgson, T Davidson, S Horsfall; W Bell, P Woodhead; T McGee, B Sowrey, C Steel, R Brown, J Quinn, J Holland, D Solomi, R Baldwin (c). Replacements: N Dickinson, S Graham, A Allen, A Myers, T Barrett..
