Two of Wharfedale ’s most popular players are back in training after long spells on the sidelines.

Back row forward Alastair Allen has returned from extended work and family commitments and will add muscle and experience to a youthful pack. A home-grown product of the club’s junior section, Allen has played in well over 100 league matches.

Equally encouraging is the return to full training of full-back Adam Whaites. Whaites was diagnosed with a serious illness two years ago, and underwent an operation and a course of therapy. He fought his way back to fitness and had returned to first team action when he sustained an horrific knee injury. He is now determined to press for the return of his place in the first team Wharfedale’s members will get their chance to meet coach Tom McGee and mix with his players on Thursday, August 9 – two days before the club’s first pre-season friendly at home to Stirling County.

McGee will outline his hopes and plans for the season ahead.

It will give the members the chance to get to know the club’s new signings and meet with new backs coach John Feeley.
