Cricketers were left frustrated as no cricket was played in any division on Saturday - not one ball bowled in anger.
Saturday saw the half-way stage in the season and there are one or two surprises in the five divisions. In the First Division, Thornton who have recruited well during the close season sit on top two points clear of surprise packet newly promoted Crossflatts.
On the same points of Crossflatts are Cullingworth who missed the possible chance of going top when their top of the table clash with Thornton was washed out. Champions Oakworth are five points off the pace at the moment, whilst Haworth are surprisingly languishing just above the relegation places.
Barrowford, looking to go back up at the first attempt, head the Second Division by six points from Airedale. Just a point behind the Keighley side are Cononley who for the past few years have always been below half way in the table.
Another side wanting to get back to where they have just come are Pendle Forest. They head the Third Division by five points from Wilsden who have never been so high since joining the league.
A point behind are Skipton CI - another team looking to bounce back first time. At the foot of the table are Haworth WE who are still without a victory and look as though they could be going down a division for the second successive year.
Looking to go up are Haworth Road II, Long Lee II, and Crossflatts II who are setting the pace in the Fourth Division.
As things stand at the moment the leaders of the Fifth Division, Haworth WE II, could not go up because of the plight of the first team. However Cullingworth II will be looking to climb one more place before the season ends.
None of the scheduled games in the Wynn and Cowling cups competitions were able to start. With grounds in terrible states most games will take place next Sunday. However there are two disputes which will be settled at a meeting of the League Executive Committee this week.
In the Wynn Cup Thornton have switched their game against Chatburn to the Ribble Valley sides ground because their ground is taken up by the annual fair. Oakworth will try to get their tie at home to Pendle Forest played as well. Ingrow and Culling-worth cannot agree when to play.
In the Cowling Cup, Barrowford II tackle Haworth Road II, Sandy Lane II play Oakworth II and Cononley II entertain Ingrow II. The tie in dispute is Long Lee II v Cullingworth II Oakworth's Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions game against Treeton was also washed out and has provisionally been arranged for Sunday, July 15.
