The shoot out for the First Division title at Booth Bridge Lane went the way of the visitors, Cullingworth who turned in a title winning performance on Saturday.

Thornton won the toss and surprisingly asked the visitors to go first and they took the initiative by rattling up 224-4 in their overs. Aussie Dave Cavanagh rounded off a good season for him by making 63; Gareth Marshall scored 56 not out and Chris Welch 46 not out. The home side were in a spin when Dave Hall entered the attack and he finished with 5-33 of 11overs as they closed on 140 all out. Marshall took 3-31 as Kev Pollard top scored with 47.

Crossflatts finish third after they won a high scoring game at home to Bradley. Embsay finish fourth after they enjoyed a six wicket victory at Haworth. The Bronte side had Jamie Rowell to thank as he made 73 out of 167-6. His brother Damian chipped in with 32 not out.

The Shires Lane side lost their third wicket in the 24th over with the score on 43.The skipper Simon Bailey and Bob Bateman took the score to 82 where the latter went for 18. Bailey and John Metcalfe then saw them to victory by with the former hitting three sixes and nine fours in an unbeaten 77 and the latter two sixes and five fours in an unbeaten 38.

Sandy Lane beat Sutton by seven wickets at Greenwood Park. The South Craveners could only manage 90 with Chris Capstick making 40 not out as Ishti Hussain claimed 6-35. P Akram made 39 not out to see the home side to the spoils.

Neil Copping 83 and Andy Jennings 45 were the main contributors to Bingley Congs 240-9 at home to Cowling, who were dismissed for 127 in reply. Gareth Frankland scored 62 not out as Aidy Dibb took 5-63 and Iain Copping 3-27.

Glusburn made 222-9 at Park Field against Oakworth with Nick Williamson making 72 not out, Matt Lloyd 52 and Karl Samson 40 with youngster Luke Taylor taking 4-42 off nine overs. Mick Thompson 63, Mick Scarborough 43 and Drew Duffy 36 saw the Cure Hill side home by three wickets with 3.1 overs to spare.

Second Division champions, Barrowford were made to work hard by visitors Ingrow before getting home by three wickets.

Airedale in second spot going into the weekend, blew it big time as they tumbled to a crushing 92-run defeat at home to Chatburn. Richard Shovelton with 102 not out was the Ribble Valley side's star as they posted 186-9 with N Zaman taking 5-59. The Keighley side tumbled to 94 all out in reply.

This opened the door for Cononley and they took the chance with both hands as they beat visitors Long Lee by 61 runs to clinch second spot. Mark Paynter 70 and Charles Calvert 44 helped the home side to 205-9 as Paul Swindlehurst claimed 5-74. The Golden View side slumped to 144 all out with Colin Stead taking 4-23 and Paynter 4-42.

The race to beat the drop into the third division was between four sides. Ingrow St John's secured their place when they beat relegated Glusburn II by 115 runs at Morton.

Denholme, although they were heavily defeated by Haworth Road stay up by virtue of having a superior run rate to Embsay II.

The Embsay lads suffered a mauling at the hands of Foulridge who rattled up a massive 302-3 with John Lambert 97, Peter Wilson 89 and Chris Brooker-Carey 73 being their main contributors. The home side managed just 109 in reply.

The Third Division title was also decided on run rate with Pendle Forest just getting the nod over Wilsden. The Fence side whipped Carleton out for 45 at Ramper Park and strolled home by six wickets.

Third placed Skipton CI needed a slip up by one of the top two, which wasn't to be. They did all they could by winning a very high scoring game at Oakworth II. The Skipton side made 298-5 in their innings on the back of a superb 188 by Ian Burke which included five sixes and 34 fours. The Cure Hill side managed a creditable 208 in reply with Richard Cavender top scoring with 47 as John Stuttard took 5-80 and John Drake 4-66.

Gargrave beat Ingrow St John's by 29 runs, Cowling II got home by two wickets over Airedale II, and Barrowford II beat Haworth WE by five wickets at Penistone Park.

With the promotion race from the Fourth Division already settled the attention turned to the other end of the table to see who accompanied Wilsden II in relegation.

Pendle Forest were on tenterhooks after they lost at home to Thornton II by 100 runs. John Roughton 71, Tim Gates 5-41 and Steve Laycock 4-46 were their best performers whilst Alex Summerscales bowled well for the losers, taking 7-83.

They needed Riddlesden to do them a favour by beating Bingley Congs II. They did so - winning by 61 runs which sends the Beckfoot side down Champions Long Lee only had nine men at home to ten man Crossflatts. They managed 94 which was 19 too many for the visitors, with Shamu Razak taking 5-27.

Haworth West End II faced a tricky game over at Chatburn II - needing to win or draw to be sure of the Fifth Division title. Chris Alvey 48 and Les Jones 42 helped the Bronte side to 189.

The Ribble Valley opened up with 91 for the first wicket, and then lost their way as they tumbled to 159 all out. Tinashe Gomwe took 5-35 as R Devine made 54.

Cullingworth II had to settle for runners-up spot despite a six-wicket victory over neighbours Denholme II.

Oakworth II beat Skipton CI II by 20 runs, Eldwick & Gilstead II saw off Cononley II by eight wickets and Glusburn III were awarded three points when Pendle Forest III couldn't raise a team.

Finally the bowling performance of the day was that of Sutton II old warhorse David Holdsworth. His side had been restricted to 99 in their innings with Robert Storr taking 3-13 and veteran Ray Jones 3-15.

In Gargrave II reply Holdsworth bowled eight overs six maidens and finished with the fantastic figures of eight wickets for just four runs.
