It's over and out for Barlick in cup
BARNOLDSWICK'S Ramsbottom Cup tie eventually got underway in a match delayed from June 24 but there was to be no joy for them.
They were restricted to 139-7 as Baxenden pro Jonathan Fielding took 3-32 off ten overs with his slow left arm bowling. All the Baxenden bowlers performed well with Andrew Marshall claiming 2-22 off ten tight overs and David Parkinson 1-11 off nine.
Barlick soon lost opener Adil Khan without scoring but his opening partner A Mujtaba stroked a fine 45 which included 5 fours.
He found some support from David Scothern, who made 15 before falling lbw to David Parkinson, and John Pickup, who made a quick 38 hitting 2 sixes and a four.
With David Parkinson in excellent form with the bat Baxenden had little trouble in making progress to the next round. He hit 1 six and 6 fours in a match winning 51 and he was well supported by Simon Payne with a blistering unbeaten 28 which included 2 sixes and 3 fours.
The wet weather hit the Veka Ribblesdale League with a number of games abandoned.
In the Senior Division Barnoldswick's home game against Ribblesdale Wanderers fell vicitim to the weather.
Earby fared a little better getting in some play against Padiham who made 199-6 declared.
Earby had reached a score of 26-3 when the game had to be abandoned. There was no play in the game between Settle and Read.
On Saturday in Ribblesdale League games Settle travel to Baxenden, Barnoldswick travel to Blackburn Northern and Earby entertain Clitheroe.
