Barlick bring back familiar face to be club pro
Barnoldswick Cricket Club are hoping to bring back some stability to their ranks after recruiting a familiar figure from their recent past as next season's professional.
Barlick chairman Phil Brown has brought back Australian Clinton Peake, 30, to the club after a six-year gap.
Brown is hoping the former player will make a big difference to a team that has struggled the past two seasons and had to repeatedly change their overseas player throughout the 2007 season.
Brown said: "He knows the town and knows the people. We needed to sort out our professional and get the club going again."
Peake was instrumental in helping Barlick to an excellent season in 2002 when they finished runners-up to Read in a title that was decided on the last game of the season.
Peake, a left-handed bat who bowls left-arm spin, scored 922 runs for the club and took 40 wickets during the 2002 season.

But his value to Barlick not included his exploits with the bat and ball.
Michael Scothern, who captained Barlick last year and during the 2002 season, said "He instilled a good practice and training regime for us. He set the players personal targets and gave the club so much more focus.
"He was an excellent professional, and was the best pro I've ever played with. He really made a big difference in galvanising the team that year."
In his early career, Peake was selected as part of the 1994-95 Australian Under-19s cricket team at 17 years of age. He scored 304 against Indian Youth in a match in Melbourne.
In the 1995-96 season, Peake made his first-class debut with Victoria. He played six matches but did not live up to the potential of his Under-19s performances and was in at out of the team over a period of a few years.
However when he headed back to his hometown to play for the Geelong Cricket Club in the A-grade Victorian Premier Cricket League, his performances were sparkling.
Just one month ago Peake joined an elite group of batsmen in Victorian Premier Cricket history when he scored a century in both the first and second innings of Geelong's win over Essendon.
The 30-year-old became just the fourth player to score a century in each innings of a match.
However Peake's effort is the first time a player has been unbeaten in both knocks.
He followed up his 162 not out in the first innings with an unbeaten 102, the 20th century of his career.
