Oxenhope pummel Cononley in cup

Ten fixtures survived last weekend's wet pitches and the majority that played experienced heavy conditions.

The Northern Plant Hire trophy saw Premier League leaders Cononley Sports suffer a humiliating 9-0 defeat at the hands of Oxenhope at Marley.

Cononley's cause was not helped with the dismissal of two players.

Hellifield's Carl Stanford was their match winner with four goals in a 8-2 victory over Oakworth.

He scored the first two goals before First Division side Oakworth hit back with two quick goals.

Oakworth enjoyed a good spell of pressure but Daniel Mellor gave Hellifield the half-time lead.

In the second-half they dominated the game with every player playing their part in an excellent team performance.

Stanford added two more and further goals from Mellor, Steven Proctor and Dale Denham rounded off a good afternoon for the home side.

Embsay visited Pendle Renegades and needed extra-time to record a 4-3 victory while Division One leaders Grindleton lost on penalties at Long Lee Juniors.

In the Devonshire Carpets Premier Division Bradley recorded their second win of the season defeating Gargrave 3-1.

Bradley took the lead only for Nick Kendall to level for Gargrave but Bradley converted the chances when they came to give themselves something to smile about in an otherwise disappointing season.

In Division One Carleton lost 4-2 to Intake while Gargrave Reserves, playing their first match since November 10, lost at home to Padiham 2-1 whoscored with a goalmouth scramble.

After Gargrave had a player dismissed they fell further behind and matters could have been worse when the visitors missed a penalty.

Gargrave played very well in the second half and scored an excellent goal through Richard Orme however they could not find the equaliser their play deserved in a highly competitive match in which young Tom Davey handled the game well.

The only game in Division Two resulted in a 2-2 draw for Skipton Town Reserves in their encounter at breezy Trawden and against the wind defended well to restrict Trawden to a one-goal lead.

Town began to create chances and following a corner young Ryan Kennedy found the net.

Town went ahead when Carl Osadzenko raced away to score the second however Trawden replied almost immediately which was a fair result on the day.

It was a good day for Skipton Town Youth who defeated Hellifield 7-2 while Earby Town Reserves had a close 3-2 win against Cowling Reserves.

The visitors took a early lead only for Ashley Garbutt to level.

With both sides trying to play football on a very difficult pitch it was Cowling who regained the lead when they netted with an unstoppable shot.

It was only 15 minutes from the end that Town got back on level terms when Gary Hooper scored.

With five minutes remaining a Adam Yates cross took a wicked deflection off a Cowling defender to snatch victory for Town.
