Leaders take advantage of slip up to extend lead
The Easter Saturday programme was played in ideal conditions albeit with a chill wind factor that kept the temperature down.
Details of matches are sketchy due to the Easter postal service however the Devonshire Carpets Premier Division had a full fixture list with Skipton LMS strengthening their hold on the leadership with a 4-1 win at WFC Clitheroe while second-placed Hellifield came a cropper at Cononley Sports losing 4-0.
Grassington United slammed seven past Bradley and Embsay lost again at home to Gargrave 3-2.
In Division One Pendle Athletic missed the chance to go top when they suffered a 6-3 reversal at Oxenhope, who overtook both Pendle and Grindleton to take top spot having played more games.
Division Two leaders Earby Town conceded a double to their victors Trawden Celtic and the chance to pull away from the chasing pack of teams while Pendle Forest are also in the picture with a 8-2 thrashing of Cononley Sports Reserves.
Previous front runners Pendle Renegades lost again to a single goal to Grassington United Reserves and the only game in Division Three resulted in a 9-2 home defeat for Bradley Reserves.
Gargrave gained an excellent team victory with a 3-2 win at Embsay, for within five minutes of the start they were down to ten men when goalkeeper Richard Hall aggravated an old injury and defender Stewart Phillips took his place. Goals came from Jonathan Chapman, Liam Jameson and Paul Wilkin with another outstanding performance from Sam Watson.
Grassington United's front men were amongst the goals again with Adam Steventon (3) and Jan Ozdoba (2) leading the way in a 7-0 win over a depleted Bradley side who could not contain a free-flowing home side who also had Nicholas Breckon and John Barbour on target.
Both Cononley and Hellifield have been inconsistent this season and it proved again when the former front runners of the Division Cononley scored four without reply against Hellifield.
Rob Kaminski opened the scoring with a header but was injured soon after and replaced by debutant Brendan Collins who made an immediate impact by scoring with a superb finish, Andrew Hudson soon made it three and although Hellifield did have chances it was not their day and Stevie Gott completed the win with a deft chip from 30 yards.
The bottom two in Division One played each other resulting in Intake defeating Cowling 3-1 and swopping places in the table while Gargrave Reserves continue to climb the table with a 2-0 home win over Keighley FC. In form Joel Timmins scored another two goals to add to his impressive tally of late.
Earby Town came off second best against Trawden Celtic who have not lost in the league this season and for all their efforts Town found the Celtic defence very hard to break down.
The visitors took the lead against the run of play when a long throw into the Town box was not cleared and Celtic scored, however Town were soon level when Jake Palmer was fouled and James Oldroyd made no mistake from the spot. With the Trawden keeper making several crucial saves the scores were level at the break.
Town had plenty of possession in the new half but could not penetrate a solid Celtic defence and it was the visitors who took the lead on 65 minutes with a break at pace from defence to hold onto a valuable win despite late pressure from Town who had a penalty appeal turned down and a Chris Parry shot that was brilliantly saved.
