Settle United win Morrison Cup final
 |
| Settle United celebrate their 2-1 Morrison Cup final win. |
The Craven Association Morrison Cup final proved to be a splendid occasion last Friday night at Skipton Town's ground as Settle Utd's poor East Lancashire League season was forgotten when they defeated Craven League Premier Division champions Grassington United 2-1 in a close-fought encounter.
On a immaculate pitch the final was end to end, however Settle took the lead when David Worthington's quick free-kick caught Grassington by surprise. Before they could recover Ian Wildman headed home from a corner to give Settle a two-goal lead.
It could have been more but for the timely saves of Robert Booth in the Grassington goal. His side pulled a goal back when a 30-yard shot from Craig Quigley was fumbled by Settle keeper James Hamer.
The Dales side began to have more possession but came up against a resolute defence marshalled by Man of the Match Luke Ford.
Adam Steventon with 42 goals this season played when not fully fit and clearly missed his striking partner Jan Ozdoba, missing through injury, but Settle were not to be denied and Worthington missed a great opportunity to seal the win in the latter stages.
