POWELL Stuart A longtime resident of Skipton, passed away on April 6, at the age of 86. Originally from Hull, he served in the Royal Air Force in Africa, as a pastor for many years all over England and in Scandinavia, and started multiple businesses. Stuart was a bibliophile and lifelong learner, often deeply studying topics of interest, and gave talks on angels, the WW2 Lancaster Bomber and other subjects. A member of the Skipton Retired Men's Forum, the RAF Association, Midweek Friends and Skipton Baptist Church (SBC), Stuart was known for his love for his Saviour Jesus Christ, and his many stories and warm sense of humour. Stuart was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Joyce, his brothers Roland and Stanley, and is survived by his daughter Joanne McCulley and her husband Mark, as well as two nieces, Christine Ellis and Beverly Barritt, and their children and grandchildren, to whom he was a grandfather figure. Skipton Baptist Church will honour Stuart with an online funeral service and tributes on Saturday, May 23, starting at 1500.
