WILBY Alan Peter (Peter) On 19th January, at home in Woodlands, Skipton, aged 92. Formerly of Embsay. A wonderful and much missed father, grandfather and friend to many. Beloved husband of Hilary who sadly passed before him. The funeral service will take place at Skipton Crematorium on Friday 18th February at 11.40 am. Family flowers only please but donations may be made in Peter's memory to British Council (registered charity 209131) c/o Co-op Funeral Care, 38 Keighley Rd, Skipton BD23 2NB. Peter was a wonderful, inspirational teacher. I was one of his pupils at Keighley Boy’s Grammar School from 1965 to 1972 where he taught Geography and was later Head of 6th form. Years after I had left I happened to see him on the train and he still remembered me, a testament to him, not me. Later he moved to live near me in Embsay and it was lovely to be reacquainted with him. I remember seeing an unusual rainbow ‘in the sky’ and asked him if he could explain it, he laughed and said unfortunately he couldn’t because he hadn’t seen it!
