A SILSDEN company has won a leading industry award for its work on a housing development in Addingham.

Snell Developments gained the Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) for the quality of its 18-home site.

Site manager Andrew Snell, 38, from the family firm, showcased the prize as the first phase of the Moor Lane Croft development neared completion.

Only nine homes in the development remain to be sold, with two of them available to view and the rest due for completion between October and April.

The properties acclaimed by the NHBC consist of two-storey three and four-bed homes built from natural stone with high specification interiors, ranging in price from £304,950 to £549,950.

Andrew, who works with his parents Philip and Margaret and brother John, was one of only 48 site managers in the North East region to be hand-picked by the NHBC after it judged 16,000 builders nationally.

He said: “I’m pleased that the consistent high standards of our work have been recognised by the NHBC.

“I thank my brother and parents as well as our long-standing and loyal staff, whose hard work and attention to detail allow us to maintain our quality reputation and deliver such great homes.”

Independent sales agent John Shaw said a Pride in the Job award was the highest industry accolade a site manager could receive.

He added: “The NHBC says it represents success for the site manager, their team and associated trades – but most importantly, homeowners who buy a Pride in the Job winning home benefit from a high-quality product.”

Silsden-based Snell Developments was founded in 1977 by Philip and Margaret Snell and is now run by their sons, Andrew and John.

Its developments include Middleway Meadows and Banklands Lane in Silsden, Highgate Croft on Cononley Moor, and Beautry Croft in Rathmell, North Yorkshire. The company specialises in housing developments ranging from single homes to 60 homes that come with a 10-year NHBC warranty

The NHBC established Pride in the Job awards 37 years ago as the only UK-wide competition dedicated to recognizing site managers who achieve the highest standards in house building.

Site managers are automatically entered into the competition if they are working on a site registered for NHBC warranty.
