BAG PACKING at Booths Supermarket, Settle, in the run-up to Christmas raised more than £580 towards the cost of potentially life-saving defibrillators. Bringing the Heart into Settle was set up by Settle student, Kate Beresford, 17, who decided to act after learning the only defibrillators in the community were not always accessible. Her original intention was to raise enough money to buy two of the machines, but following great support, has upped her goal to four. On December 23, the group carried out a bag packing session at Booths, and raised £584.44. "I would like to thank those who donated and supported us, and a big thankyou to Booths for letting us fundraise at their store," said Kate. Kate, a member of the Settle Patient Participation Group, has also raised money by selling cakes at a make-up evening at Settle College. To donate money to the appeal, people can donate to Barclays Bank, Settle branch, sort code 20-78-42, account number 00018880 account name, Settle College, registered charity no 1049037.
