FOODIES will be in seventh heaven if they visit Grassington on Sunday, June 19.

As part of the 15-day Grassington Festival, a food event will take over the whole of Grassington Square with a fully fitted demonstration kitchen – supplied and fitted by Howdens of Skipton – taking centre stage.

Highly-regarded Yorkshire chefs John Rudden from the village's Grassington House Hotel, and Stephanie Moon from All Things Food, along with Matt Mitchell of the Keelham Kitchen, will demonstrate their culinary skills and talk about their passion for local produce.

Demonstrations will be compered by local food hero Chris Wildman from Town End Farm Shop at Airton, with tastings of all the prepared dishes being offered in abundance.

A full farmers’ market and additional stalls will enable visitors to stock up on all their favourite local Yorkshire food and produce, including award-winning cheeses from The Courtyard Dairy at Settle - it was recently named Cheesemonger of the Year at the Farm Shop and Deli Awards - and crepes from The Flip Side.

Between the cookery demonstrations, there will be free musical entertainment from the Ski Band and storytelling sessions to ensure that the festival atmosphere continues.

Stephanie Moon, who has been a key part of the Food Festival since 2013, said: “Grassington Food Festival is a superb festival which is growing in stature and momentum – and the kitchen there is awesome!

"You can see local chefs cooking food they love, and it’s full of great local producers who are passionate about their wares. The local cafes and eateries are also fantastic, making for a fun day out where food is top of the menu.”

Tosside-born Stephanie, who has appeared on the Great British Menu, started her career at The Dorchester on Park Lane in London working for Anton Mosimann and, as chef consultant at Rudding Park, Harrogate, has cooked for famous people including Desmund Tutu and Mikhail Gorbechov.

Hetton’s Dark Horse Brewery’s specially brewed Festivale will once again be on sale at several pubs and hotels around the Dales during the festival fortnight - June 17 to July 2.

Brewery owner Richard Eyton-Jones describes it as “a light golden ale which is ideal for summer drinking” – the perfect companion 15 days of music and arts in the Yorkshire Dales!
