The ability to convert old barns, factories, warehouses and industrial buildings has taken the interior design world by storm. The trend for an edgy, industrial look in our homes has been going strong for some time now and certainly shows no sign of waning any time soon!

A key aspect of the industrial look is lighting, but don’t assume this means grime and rough edges though…. Think about gleaming brass, shiny copper hues, exciting shapes and sleek lines. With its increasingly popular, utilitarian design, funky industrial lighting fixtures look especially good in a converted warehouse or an urban flat. However, don’t be put off if your home is a more traditional style. You can create an ‘Industrial Chic’ look by mixing harder industrial lighting with more delicate, softer fabrics, wallpaper & accessories.

There are so many different ways to introduce an industrial light fitting into your interior scheme. Bulkhead wall lights were originally designed for function over form and were heavily used in factories or nautical settings where a robust light source was a must. However, the industrial interiors revolution has seen them rise up in the style stakes.

Edison pendant lights in a variety of on-trend metals such as brass, copper & pewter are very popular as kitchen lighting and look great hanging over a kitchen island or dining table. If you want something a little more refined, a ribbed glass wall sconce will provide a nod to the industrial in a more understated way. These work really well with a more traditional home décor too.

How about a cluster pendant or hanging multiple pendants close together to really add some drama to your space? Who says less is more!

Whichever style takes your fancy, there is a huge range of fantastic Industrial lighting on the market at price points to suit all budgets, and Lime Lace Interiors would be delighted to help!
