SETTLE Amateur Operatic Society (SAOS) Junior Theatre Group members are set to perform a production based on poems by Roald Dahl.

Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf and The Three Little Pigs, which will be staged from tonight to Saturday at Settle Victoria Hall, are both based on poems from Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes.

The story begins as Mr Wolf thinks he is a match for Little Red Riding Hood.

He plots against her and gobbles up her grandma, and it is sweet Little Red Riding Hood who must deal with the wicked wolf.

But she has something up sleeve. Recognised by all as an outstanding wolf-slayer Red is soon asked to assist the Three Little Pigs.

Piggy No. 3 is in trouble. The Wolf, has consumed his close relations, is hammering at the door with a stick of dynamite in his hand.

Who can Piggy call on for help? How is he to know that she fancies a pigskin handbag to go with her wolfskin coat?

The show has been written by Matthew White, a regular performer in West End musicals and a producer, and Ana Sanderson, a composer and producer.

SAOS producer Pat Harding said: "The show is a perfect vehicle for the talented and enthusiastic group of juniors. Rehearsals have been hilarious, and at times howlingly hilarious!"

The show will have two wolves and two Little Red Riding Hoods.

Wolf Isaac Wiggans said: “It’s cool to be a wolf, unless you are up against Little Red Riding Hood!”

Gabriel Williams said he enjoyed the opportunities to improvise in the show.

Mina Cartwright, a Little Red Riding Hood, said she loved performing and liked playing a dangerous little girl.

Amy Lawson, also a Little Red Riding Hood and a seasoned SAOS performer, said: “I've done five shows with SAOs so far. I'm really enjoying this one because it's so funny. My dad, Stephen Lawson, plays the keyboard and we get to rehearse together, which makes it even more fun."

The Settle production can be seen at Victoria Hall at 7pm tonight and tomorrow and 2pm on Saturday.

Tickets, which are available on 01729 825718, cost £10 for a balcony seats, £8 for stalls, £5 for a children's stall seat and £22 for a family ticket.
