FOLK singers from around the UK and from as far away as Australia are set to perform at this weekend's Settle Folk Gathering.

The four-day festival, which is in its fifth year, will take place from today to Sunday in five venues across Settle.

The event will feature concerts, music session, an open mic event, a family ceilidh and various workshops including fiddle, ukelele, bodhran, tin whistle, singing, clog dancing and spoons.

Performances this year will include Churchfitters, Merry Hell, Reg Meuross, Charlie Dore, Geoff Lakeman, The Dartmoor Pixie Band, as well as Penny Davies and Roger Ilott, who are both from Australia.

Settle Victoria Hall will host the concerts and the family ceilidh, while The Lion, Royal Oak, Talbot Arms and the Quaker Meeting House will host a number of the workshops and music sessions.

To raise money for the Settle Folk Gathering, organisers are selling From The Lion's Den, a CD compilation of recordings by local musicians.
