Cononley Art Club will hold its annual exhibition and sale in the village institute this weekend.

There will be more than 100 framed paintings on display, with many more unframed paintings to browse.

The club’s 25 members will exhibit styles ranging from abstract to traditional fine art and covering almost every media.

There will be demonstrations on all three days to appeal to a variety of tastes.

Vera Holt and Walter Slingsby demonstrate on Saturday, Pat Chew on Sunday morning and Ruby Sedgwick will show drawing with pastels on Sunday afternoon.

Dilys Williamson will work with a scraper board on Monday morning and Elaine Cohn will demonstrate scriptwriting on Monday afternoon.

A club spokesman said: “Whilst this is very much a local show put on by a small club, the fame and paintings of Cononley Art Club stretch far and wide.

“Maurice Kettlewell has one of his paintings in the White House whilst some of Ruby Sedgwick’s paintings are in private collections in Australia and America.

“Derek Stansfield has recently returned from America where he has had his own exhibition, along with some of his wife’s paintings, and has been both demonstrating and running workshops.

“Shelagh Powell teaches and demonstrates her own form of abstract art locally.”

Refreshments will be available throughout the exhibition and admission is free.

Children can try their hand at a variety of artistic media, with prizes for the under-fives and under-eights.

The exhibition is open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 10am and 4pm.
