The newly-refurbished Quaker Meeting House at Airton is the venue for an arts and crafts exhibition over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

Local artist Bruce Simpson will be exhibiting a variety of his latest work, together with Judith Brooks.

Also exhibiting their crafts will be Diane Goulding, Jan Willingham and Trevor Brooks.

Diane will be displaying a selection of patchwork cushions, bags and cot quilts and Jan will be showing her individually handcrafted cards.

Judith will also have a selection of hand-painted cards and Trevor will be showing his photographic greetings cards depicting local dales scenes.

Also for sale will be a variety of handcrafted gifts made by members of the exhibiting group.

Each member of the group lives in Airton and has displayed at other venues. However, this is the first time they have come together as an exhibiting group.

Diane, the main organiser, said: “We have been thinking of planning a local art and craft exhibition for some time. But now the Quaker Meeting House has been fully refurbished and is being used for community purposes as well as Quaker meetings, we felt the time was right to hold our first joint exhibition.

“It is a great way of showing the work that has been carried out on this wonderful building and it is a perfect venue for local artists to show their work.”

The exhibition will run from Saturday to Monday and will be open from 10am to 4pm daily.

Refreshments will be available.
