The works of local artist Joy Godfrey, potter Chris Bailey and bodger Richard Law are on display at the Strid Wood Exhibition Centre, Bolton Abbey.

The inspiration for all the artworks on view came from the estate.

Since acquiring her own studio in 2001, Joy’s work has become larger in scale and she takes delight in mixing her own oil paints and stretching her own canvases.

An extensive display of silkscreen prints can also be seen at the Cavendish Pavilion.

Early in her life, Chris worked as a part-time studio potter and, after 15 years working in healing and meditation, has recently returned to her ceramic work via a National Diploma in Design Crafts. Her work is widely inspired by nature.

As resident bodger, Richard uses timber thinnings from the Bolton Abbey Estate to make the furniture and bird tables. He works on his pole laithe off the green trail in Strid Wood.

The exhibition runs until the end of December and is open every day from 10am to 4pm.
