A 21-year-old Skipton man told magistrates he regretted running off from police when they wanted to question him.
Daniel Lawrence took flight rather than be questioned by police who were investigating an alleged assault in Newmarket Street, the court heard.
He was chased to Tesco supermarket, where he reacted badly to police before having to be handcuffed and restrained on the ground, the court was told.
Prosecuting, Niall Carlin said he continued to be aggressive even when at the police station and had to be put in a cell before completing the booking-in procedure.
When interviewed, later on November 25, he told police he had been drinking, had run off from police but thought the force used by the officers had been excessive.
Lawrence, of Roughaw Road, who admitted resisting arrest, told the court that he had felt he had done nothing wrong, but that he should not have run off.
He was fined £100 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victims surcharge.
