Parish council: Coun G Harling has been elected chairman of Farnhill Parish Council. No nominations were put forward for vice-chairman and the matter will be decided at the June meeting. No members of the public were present, but an email was received from Kate Fulton giving an update on the book exchange. There had been two significant donations of books and new participants. It was resolved that meetings continue to be held on the first Tuesday of the month with no meeting in August. The council has received complaints about unauthorised work carried out at the Arbour by a volunteer. The clerk is to write to the people concerned and inform them no further work must take place or it may be regarded as criminal damage. John Lofthouse asked for permission to place a seat at Arbour Top in memory of his father who did a lot of work at the Arbour many years ago. The council agreed provided that the seat would be well-maintained. Members resolved to carry out the work at Arbour Top and Lower Arbour recommended by the tree surgeon and to have the brambles cut back. The clerk will now apply for planning permission. Coun Ian Fulton was elected as representative on the Yorkshire Local Councils Association and will be put forward as a possible representative on the Craven Area Committee. Gary McKinney was appointed to act as representative trustee for Farnhill Parish Council on the Peggy Wilson Trust for a further four years. The parish council has been contacted by a surveyor who works on behalf of British Telecom who said four BT poles on Main Street need renewing. However, one of the poles has a light and the surveyor has asked the parish council to arrange to have the electric supply disconnected as a matter of urgency. The next meeting will be in the institute on Tuesday and villagers are welcome to attend.
