A charity which works to support the environment and the social and economic wellbeing of the Yorkshire Dales is urging people to vote for it in an online contest to secure a £10,000 boost.

The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust said if it was named the most popular local charity in the People’s Postcode Lottery, it would use the funding to expand its range of projects.

After voting for a national charity at votethatcounts.org, people are being given the option of nominating a local charity in the contest, which closes at 5pm on Monday.

A trust spokesman said: “This is a great opportunity to secure a huge amount of money, but we’ll need everyone’s help to get the most votes and receive the £10,000, so please vote now and encourage your friends and family to do the same.”

Voters must live within a 50-mile radius of the charity’s registered office at Clapham. They will be asked to enter the trust’s full name and the office postcode of LA2 8DP.
