Plans to put up an extension over a garage at Olrig Croft, Cracoe, have been dismissed on appeal.
The application was originally refused by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
The authority said the size and scale of the extension was excessive and would harm the appearance of the house.
However, the inspector, S Watson, was more concerned about the lack of windows in the front first floor facade, saying it would make the extension appear dominant and visually bland.
