A Barnoldswick councillor is calling for greater transparency over tree felling work in the town.
Coun David Whipp was speaking after residents raised concerns about work carried out on unsafe trees along Esp Lane.
“People are concerned whenever trees are cut down,” said Councillor Whipp. “Plans for felling trees, or carrying out major surgery need to be published well before work is carried out so that there’s a greater awareness of what’s going on.”
“Our area committee meets monthly in West Craven and it would be a simple matter to report any plans for major tree surgery to the meeting.”
Other work taking place in the town includes surgery on trees next to power lines and the removal of two birch trees in the Memorial Gardens on Kelbrook Road.
