A Skipton man will be honoured as part of Armed Forces Week.
On Monday (June 23), a group of war veterans gathered outside Skipton Town Hall to officially launch the week by raising an Armed Forces Day flag.
Armed Forces Week will conclude on Sunday (June 29) with a veterans parade up the High Street. Veterans are asked to assemble on Otley Street by 2.30pm.
On the day, the Armed Forces Day will be lowered and presented to Skipton man Len Parry, who served with the RAF for six years during World War II.
Mr Parry, who was captured by the Japanese in Singapore in 1941, escaped with 16 other men on Chinese junk four days later.
During the war, he also served in Sumatra, Java and Ceylon.
Mr Parry, 93, is pleased that he will be honoured, saying: "It's nice to receive recognition of my long service all those years ago.
