GREEN fingered residents are being offered the chance of snapping up a bargain compost bin.
The 220 litre or 330 litre bins are being offered at a fraction of their normal price by Craven District Council in partnership with the York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership.
The bins, £8 for the smaller or £9 for the larger, will only be available next Saturday, August 2 and will have to be collected from the council's depot on Engine Shed Lane, Skipton.
Cllr Carl Lis, for Greener Craven, said: “This offers a real alternative for those who may not want to subscribe to the garden waste collection service.
“Up to 40 per cent of household waste is kitchen and garden waste, which is ideal for composting at home. So by taking up this great offer not only do you reduce your household waste but you will also produce a free fertiliser for your garden and plant pots to keep them looking beautiful.”
Bins must be paid for in advance and proof of address will be asked for.
Orders must be made by next Thursday by telephone 01609 532512.
