THE Patient Participation Group at Skipton's Fisher Medical Centre is to host a health event entitled Live Longer Better.
It will be held at the town's Swadford Centre on Wednesday and its aim is to promote a healthier lifestyle for all and to provide assistance to those suffering from long-term illnesses, as well as helping people who suffer from loneliness and isolation.
The event, which is free and open to all, will run from 11am to 2pm and there will be a number of stalls including Fisher Medical Centre’s own Health Champions, Diabetes UK, Cruse, Bereavement Care, the Alzheimer’s Society, Project 6 and the Carers’ Resource. Free refreshments will be served.
Fisher Medical Centre’s pharmacist will give a short talk at noon followed by a talk by the practice’s Physician Associates at 1 pm.
Blood pressure, height and weight checks will be available and Project 6 have promised to bring their infamous Beer Goggles to test the ability to walk in a straight line when under "the influence".
