BROUGHTON Hall is in the running for a top award.

The Countryside Alliance Awards, aka the 'Rural Oscars', are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a special Champion of Champions scheme.

Every UK champion of the last ten years is being invited back to compete again for these titles and seven Yorkshire businesses are in contention, making the region the best represented in the scheme.

Broughton Hall, which was2012 UK champion in the enterprise category, will be taking pa\rt alongside ventures including Pateley Bridge butcher H Weatherhead & Sons and Weetons of Harrogate.

The scheme is reliant on a public vote and will be open online until November 30 at www.countrysideallianceawards.org.uk.

Jill Grieve, Countryside Alliance Awards director, said: “The Champion of Champions scheme is a true celebration of our produce, communities and businesses. I am not surprised that Yorkshire is so well represented as the calibre and commitment of Yorkshire folk is second to none. Many of the best businesses in the country are in the mix and I would urge everyone to get voting to ensure Yorkshire proves its standing in the Champion of Champions Awards.”
