YOUNG Taylor Collingwood had a starring role at Ingleton's Frozen-themed late night shopping event.

The five-year-old was the lucky winner of a raffle to ride with Santa in his sleigh, pulled by live reindeer, Troy and Pancake.

The sleigh was sponsored by the Ingleton District Tradespeople Association.

Crowds lined the streets on Friday night as the Kirkby Lonsdale Queen Elizabeth School Samba Band led a procession of dancers, children with lanterns, lots of Frozen characters and carol singers from Ingleborough Community Centre to The Square.

Once there, youngsters could meet Santa in Seed Hill Guest House which had been decorated by ladies from the NSPCC as an Ice Frozen Grotto. Special guests were Queen Elsa, Olaf, The Ice Queen and Pepper Pig.

Mr Bubbles, the DJ and MC, kept the evening running smoothy and Liz Culshaw’s dancers, from tiny tots to mature ladies, performed in The Square, all dressed in Frozen-themed costumes.

The reindeer were a great attraction, with youngsters being able to feed and pat them.

The Scouts and local Dales butcher provided refreshments and most of the shops and cafes served mulled wine and mince pies.

Businesses in the main street had their windows decorated in keeping with the Frozen theme and first prize went to Uncle Jeremy’s Household (children’s toys). The best outfit award went to Sue at Secrets.

The Settle Brass Band, along with carol singers, added a Christmas touch.

Organiser Beryl Morphet said: "The whole evening had a wonderful festive atmosphere; even the weather was kind being cold and frosty, with many people huddling round the brazier by the beautiful Christmas tree to keep warm. Many thanks go to all the kind people who worked hard and gave generously. A great night was had by all."
