INSPIRED by the global artistic and community-driven project Street Pianos, created by Luke Jerram, Grassington Festival will have its own Piano in the Square.
The piano will be a permanent fixture in the festival marquee for the full duration of the festival, which runs from June 12 to 27, and absolutely everyone, whether an accomplished musician or an enthusiastic beginner, is encouraged to play it!
To ensure that the piano is a recognisable part of the festival, organisers have created a design for a crocheted-fitted piano cover, which will be made in the festival colours of pink, orange, dark green and light green.
The wool has been donated by Stylecraft Yarns in Keighley and the festival is now for volunteers to help crochet some of the 1,225 seven-centimetre squares that are needed to complete the design.
Wool and details of how to crochet the squares can be collected from the Festival Office located at the Grassington Hub on Garrs Lane, Grassington, and for further information, contact Lindsay Hobbs on 01756 753252.
