THE Practice Health Champions at Skipton's Fisher Medical Centre are launching a new kite flying group at the town's Raikes Road playing field.

It follows a similar scheme last year and is part of champions' goal to help people across the town who may feel isolated or who are dealing with long-term health conditions.

Sessions will take place on Thursdays, starting next week, and will be led by professional kite maker Alan Poxon, from Gargrave.

He has been flying kites most of his life and is a member of a synchronised kite flying team known as Sky Symphony, which showcases its talents at events across the UK.

Sessions will run from 1.30pm to 3pm, with the last session taking place on August 27. Kites can be provided for a £2 donation.
