THE Carleton Monday Club Choir has undergone a transformation.

Relaunched as Carleton Ladies Choir, it was initiated and financially supported by the Monday Club three years ago and has grown steadily in both numbers and confidence.

There are 20 members and their repertoire includes rock, pop, musicals, folk, classical and hymns as well as arrangements written by their musical director Damian Oxborough. The choir is accompanied by pianists Ella Smith and Peter Gunn.

This year, the choir competed in the Skipton Music Festival and has entered the Colne Luther Greenwood Festival in December.

And locals will have the chance to hear the singers when they perform a summer concert in the village hall on Saturday, from 7pm.

There will be guest performances from other village talent including Alan Sutton with the washboard, the Carleton Sisters singing songs from the 40s, an acoustic set from the Village Band and Jack Humphrey with his own unique style of entertainment.

There will be a bar and a chance to dance at the end of the night.

A limited number of tickets are on sale from village shops or directly from choir members. They cost £4 for adults and £2 for children.
