SETTLE is preparing to switch on its Christmas lights next weekend.

Santa will be at the ceremony in Settle Market Place on Saturday, November 28 before going on a tour of villages and supermarkets in the area every Saturday up until Christmas.

President of Settle Rotary Club, Floyd Schofield said: "I hope everyone will take advantage of Santa’s schedule to come to his grotto at the lights’ switch-on, and then see

him again when he is touring the area or at one of the Settle supermarkets on a Saturday in December.

"He does like to meet children of all ages, and local charities, individuals and good causes will again benefit from our collections.”

Santa and his helpers will be at the following locations. All will be at 5pm, unless stated otherwise.

Austwick: Monday, December 7 (from 6.00pm after his visit to Clapham); Clapham: Monday, December 7; Giggleswick village: Wednesday December 9; Giggleswick - The Mains: Thursday, December 17; Hellifield: Tuesday, December 1 and Wednesday, December 2; Horton: Monday, December 14; Langcliffe: Thursday, December 10; Long Preston: Monday,November 30; Rathmell: Tuesday 8th December 8; Stackhouse: Thursday December 17 (after his visit to The Mains, Giggleswick); Stainforth: Monday December 14 (after his visit to Horton; Wigglesworth: Tuesday, December 8 (after his visit to Rathmell).

He will be at Settle Co-op on Saturday, December 5 between 10am and 4pm; at Booths, Settle, on Saturday, December 5 between 10am and 4pm.

He will also be in Upper Settle and Londgale Avenue on Thursday, December 3; Mill Close and Northfields on Friday, December 4; Townhead, Church Street, Duke Street and Kings Mill, on Friday, December 11 and Duke Street and Cammock Lane on Wednesday, December 16.

The switch on ceremony on November 28 in Settle Market Place will take place from 2pm to 5pm.
