THE coroner has opened an investigation into a fatal crash on the A65 between Austwick and Clapham on Sunday.
Giovanni Richetta, 52, a retired fire officer from Shipley, died when his red, old-style Moto Guzzi motorcycle was on a head-on crash with a blue Peugeot 206.
Police say an inquest will open in due course.
Meanwhile, they have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the collision, which occurred at just after 12.12pm and forced the closure of the road for five hours.
Mr Richetta was wearing a black motorcycle suit and a distinctive white helmet with red and green striped from the Italian flag.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 43-year-old woman from Keighley, and her nine-year-old daughter who was in the front passenger seat, were taken to Airedale General Hospital by ambulance. Their injuries were not believed to be serious, but they were left badly shaken by the incident.
