SETTLE Stories will present a story concert of myths and legends at the Royal Oak, Settle, next Friday, July 24.

Belgian storyteller and musician Iwan Kushka will perform True Moon Tales, using an Iranian frame drum and the Armenian Duduk.

He will be joined by guitarist William Benzies and violinist Becky Doe.

Together, they will take the audience on a journey into the underworld, ecstatic lovers, death and rebirth.

Iwan will tell the ancient Indian legend of The Transported Heads - in which two boys meet one girl and lose their hearts (and heads) in the process.

"This will be a night to remember as it will be our very first story concert," said Settle Stories communications and events manager Charles Tyrer. "Music can really bring stories alive - this will be no exception.

"Settle Stories has always celebrated stories from cultures across the world, and we're thrilled to welcome our first Belgian Storyteller. This is going to be a night of fascinating myths and legends steeped in history and mystery."

The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets costing £10 are available from

Iwan will also hold a workshop at the Royal Oak on Saturday, June 25, from 10.30am where adults will be able to develop existing story skills in a very upbeat manner.
