CREATIVE students of Craven College are preparing to make a mark with their end of year show.

The event will also be the last for two long-standing tutors, Paul Duxbury and Bill Lambert, who are retiring at the end of the year.

'AS IF – Interrobang' will showcase the work of the college's school of creative industries and mark the culmination of a year's efforts and creative vision.

The show, at the Aireville Campus, which will be open to the public, will include fine art, print jewellery, photography, fashion and textiles.

There will also be snapshots of musical theatre, film and creative media.

Head of school, Theresa Savage, said: “The show highlights the diversity of artwork created by our talented students.

"The quality of student work at all levels is inspiring. I am extremely proud of our students and the work they create.

"As well as acquiring a wide specialist skill base, our students learn to work collaboratively with each other, skilfully guided by a specialist team of staff.”

The show will open with extracts from the musical West Side Story by the college's performing arts students.

Creative media students will also play show reels, including a film celebrating British values, commissioned as part of the college's recent Festival of British Culture. And there will be a display of costumes made by fashion students shown at the recent London Com Con exhibition.

The event will also mark the retirement of art and design lecturers, Paul Duxbury (photography) and Bill Lambert (graphic communications).

A college spokesman said: "Both have had an amazing and positive influence on our students, resulting in many of them going on to prestigious universities and jobs in the art and design industry.

"Craven College’s digital and creative industries are indebted to the commitment and contribution both Paul and Bill have made, to supporting and building our prestigious department of art and design."

A private view of the show is due to take place at the college's Aireville Campus on June 29, between 6pm and 8pm.

It will be open to the public on June 30, July 1 and July 4, from 10am to 4pm.
