SILSDEN'S Grand deParty 2016 – a month of community events in the town – has now been launched.
Banners and notices giving details of the events have been put on display in the centre of Silsden.
This year's Grand deParty starts on July 2, with a French-themed weekend reflecting the Tour de Yorkshire Grand Depart, which passed through the town in 2014, and will continue during five weekends to July 31.
Silsden Local History Group will stage a local history walk between 2pm and 4pm on July 6, and again from 7pm to 9pm. Participants should meet at the bandstand.
Silsden Park will host a programme of activities between 10am and 4pm on July 9. This will include children’s cycling, an obstacle course for dogs, fun running races, music with Silsden Singers and Silsden Town Band, tennis and miniature steam engine rides with Keighley and District Model Engineering Society.
And Silsden Playing Fields Bowling Club, which is based at the park, is inviting people to try crown green bowling.
The town’s three churches and the town hall will hold the 2016 Silsden Community Showcase day on July 16.
Starting at 10am and running until 4pm, the event will highlight the work of voluntary groups, whose representatives will be on hand to tell people what they do and how to get involved.
July 23 sees this year’s Proms on the Farm, and Silsden Gala Committee presents the 2016 Silsden Gala on July 31, with the parade starting at 1pm.
