PENDLE Riding for the Disabled Association in Barnoldswick is celebrating its success at the RDA National Championships in Gloucestershire.

Having qualified through a regional event earlier in the year, the riders, volunteers and ponies were able to compete thanks to a travel grant from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

“It was a fantastic experience for all of us,” says group coach, Kate Bailey. “The RDA National Championships brings riders and carriage drivers together from all over the UK, and it was a really special weekend. We are grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for making it possible for us to attend.”

Blind rider, Vicky Howarth, retained her title as the Champion VI rider for the second year running.

Grade 3 rider Oi Ping Li Park came fourth in her very first National Championships in the showjumping competition.

The National Championships, organised by the charity Riding for the Disabled Association, is the biggest event of its kind in the world, bringing together hundreds of disabled competitors, who take part in more than 90 classes during three days.
