FORMER Glusburn woman Rita Chapman, nee Binns, has sent in this picture of the employees at Hayfield Mills, taken in the early 1940s. Mrs Chapman, now of Scholes near Leeds, lived in Glusburn until the early 1960s, having been born in 1932.
She writes: "My father Herbert Binns worked at Hayfield Mills all his working life, apart from wartime service in the Royal Air Force, which is the reason he is not on the photograph. My great aunt Irene Bland is on the front row." Mrs Chapman adds that she can remember the faces of almost everyone pictured, but that their names escape her.
