A CRAVEN school deployed its students into barracks so they could gain first hand experience of Army life.
Students from Upper Wharfedale School, in Threshfield, were among 20,000 teenagers attending the 2007 Army Careers Exhibition (ACE) at Marne Barracks, in Catterick.
Organiser, Lieutenant Colonel John May, explained: "The aim of the exhibition is to create a more informed debate about the career options available in the Army and the academic qualifications required to gain entry to them."
Some of the soldiers manning the displays had just returned from active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Visitors watched daredevil performances from the Royal Signals Motorcycle display team as well as parachute displays from The Red Devils Freefall Display Team.
Among the interactive activities, pupils were able to test drive Army mini bikes, scale a 30ft tower descending on an aerial ropeway and try out their aim with laser clay shooting and the laser dome. The obstacle and assault courses also allowed students to put their fitness and agility to the test.
