EIGHT Scouts from Settle were transformed into a brand new Explorer Scouts unit in a ceremony held at the top of Ingleborough.
Altogether, 12 Scouts set off for Saturday's investiture ceremony, along with seven leaders and nine parents.
The eight who were elevated to higher ranks had reached the age of 14 and were about to begin the next leg of their scouting journey.
Each member first made their promise before being presented with a new neckerchief.
They were welcomed into the new South Ingleborough District Explorer Unit by new leaders, Pat Hartley and Alan Gibson.
Dick Chalmers, Ingleborough District Secretary, spoke to the group at the summit of Ingleborough and officially declared the new unit open.
Meanwhile, Scouts throughout the world will mark the movement's centenary on August 1.
At 8am local time, Scouts and ex-Scouts will gather to renew their promise at a sunrise ceremony.
The Settle Explorers have chosen to celebrate at Humshaugh, in Northumberland - the site of their first scout camp.
They will incorporate the ceremony into a backpacking expedition along Hadrian's Wall.
If any other 14 to 18-year-olds, or dedicated adults, are interested in joining the group, should e-mail contact@ingleboroughscouts.org. uk
