A WEEKEND of 1940s nostalgia is being planned in Ingleton, which will see Winston Churchill rubbing shoulders with Herr Flick and Helga, Dad's Army personnel and The Ovalteenies.

The family event will take place next weekend, July 7 and 8, and is the second to be held in the village.

It is organised by Elaine and John Ward, of the North Lonsdale Homeguard, and is a free event which has been funded by an Awards for All grant.

It is hoped it will become an annual attraction for the village.

There is a packed itinerary, with dancing by pupils from Ingleton Middle School, singing by Gracie Lands (Elaine Ward), a dance workshop, the Battle of Britain Spitfire, Punch and Judy, an Ensa Show, vintage and military vehicles, the Lancastrian Brigade band parade and an afternoon tea dance.

There will be refreshments available throughout the weekend and also the chance to take part in the Ensa show for a free hot-pot.

To book your slot in the show, ring 015242 41024.

The events will take place in and around the streets, car parks and community centre, where there will be an opportunity for many to have a walk down memory lane.

The action begins at 10am on each day.
