A CRACK-shot cadet who saved a woman's life has received a special award from the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire.
Lancashire Army Cadet Force Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Michael Worden, from Earby, was awarded the Lord Lieutenant's Certificate of Merit by Colonel the Rt Hon Lord Shuttleworth, at a ceremony in Kimberley Barracks, Preston.
Michael, who is the most senior army cadet in Lancashire, received the award for his skills as an instructor and his prowess at shooting.
The 17-year-old has the full bore marksman's badge and was overall best shot at the 2005 cadet skill at arms meeting.
He also saved a woman's life last year when he dragged her unconscious from a car as she tried to commit suicide.
Michael is based at the Barnoldswick detachment of the Lancashire Army Cadet Force and works for United Utilities, at Slaidburn.
His guests at the ceremony included his mother and step-father, Derek and Jacqui Melvin, and his father, Mark Worden.
