IMPROVEMENTS costing £600,000 to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Pendle are now complete.
Sections of the towpath have been transformed for walkers, cyclists, joggers, people with prams and wheelchair users to enjoy.
The improvements have also been made to attract more tourists to Pendle and improve the area's economy. The project has taken four years to complete.
The Mayor of Pendle, Coun Allan Buck, helped out with the final sections of the towpath, which were between Foulridge and Salterforth and Skipton Road and Greenberfield Locks, Barnolds-wick.
He said: "Pendle has some beautiful countryside but until now it's not always been easy for everyone to use the canalside as parts of the towpath have been uneven and rocky.
"The new, purpose-built paths will allow local people to enjoy their surroundings and, hopefully, attract more visitors from outside the area."
East Lancashire Regional Park, West Craven Together and Pendle Council funded the final set of improvements.
