CONONLEY Singers and KVU Singers are both involved in concerts this month.

The Cononley Singers invite everyone to join them in a nostalgic trip down memory lane to enjoy Songs From The Summer Of Love.

The summer concert will feature songs from Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and other famous songs from the summer of 1967, including those by artists such as The Bee Gees, Procol Harum and The Turtles.

In keeping with the spirit of the times, Peace and Love, the singers will be performing in costume from that era.

Members of the audience are also warmly invited to do the same and it is hoped that everyone who attends will, as they used to say, “get into the groove man.”

Concerts will be at Christ Church in Skipton, on Friday, July 14 and at Cononley Village Institute on Saturday, July 15, both at 7.30pm.

Tickets from Cononley Post Office by calling 01535 637405.

KVU Singers, a mixed voice choir based in Sutton, will hold a joint concert with Colne-based Pendle Youth Choir in aid of Cancer Research, at Christ Church in Skipton at 2.30pm on Sunday July 16.

KVU Singers, formed in 1906 as Keighley Vocal Union, sing both secular and sacred music, and for the past 35 years have been conducted by musical director Frank Smith.

Pendle Youth Choir, with singers aged from 11 to 18 years, along with a Children’s Choir for ages six to ten years, evolved from the Nelson Municipal Children’s Choir, which started in 1949.

David Wilkinson, conductor of Pendle Youth Choir, recently became president of KVU Singers, thus cementing a relationship between the two choirs that has seen joint concerts before.
