A MAN competing in the Ingleton Fell Race at the village Gala Day on Saturday fractured his leg as he came down the grass slope towards the finish.
Members of The Cave Rescue Organisation, which was providing first aid cover for the gala, splinted the 44-year-old's leg and gave him pain relief while waiting on the arrival of the ambulance service.
The incident happened at about 4.20pm on Saturday.
Several runners were also treated for minor cuts and bruises at the end of the race.
